IS YOUR CHILD A SENIOR?
The time has come! You have a SENIOR in your house! How does it feel? Do you wonder where time has gone, and how is it possible that your 5-year-old is all of the sudden an independent almost adult? How did this happen? Haha, just breathe, and enjoy THE moment.
Think about all the memories, silly moments, car "sing alongs" and gazzililion firsts over the years your family shared. Squeeze those tight, and hang on to them. This time ahead is exciting, terrifying and overwhelming at times. I get it. On top of it all, you now have to think about their senior portraits. BUT, I am here to help you with that. As a senior photographer, that is what I love doing, and easing your stress level right now, is my goal. Together, we got this!
Together we can create a session for your senior that will highlight their senior year and their talents, showcase their hobbies and things that make them - well, THEM, and in the end, make THEM really shine. PLUS, we will have a blast doing it! Sound good?
Here we go, let's jump right in...
Are you breathing? Good, see it's not as bad as it seems. Haha. Ok, let's keep going...
I will give you a fun homework - I need you and your senior to come up with things you would like us to highlight in your session. Things that they are most proud of. Weather it is sports or academic accomplishment, science or music project, absolute love for shoes (yes, speaking from experience), or cars, art, poetry... it could be anything. Things that are a huge part of their/your lives.
Are you starting to have fun now? Yeah, I thought you would like this.
Next thing you need to do is chat with them about time of the year and location they would love their session done. I do realize seniors today are extremely busy and involved in multiple after school activities. They have a ton of tests, projects, sports games etc. going on their last year in HS, but find some time for them to share what their vision is. Trust me, teens today, for the most part, know exactly what they want. Or what they DON'T, either way, it helps us with planning. For example, decide on summer, spring or fall session, chat about locations such as rustic, farm, urban, indoor, sports etc. Take a look around our web page for more ideas. BTW, Pinterest is also amazing to get you started.
Set the date, put it on the calendar, and let's have some fun!

Let the Fun Begin...
How are you feeling? Are you getting little more confident and ready to tackle this? Now that you came up with ways to highlight your senior and their achievements, you chosen your photographer, it is time to start planning your fun session. It is important you stay true to yourself and work closely with your photographer. Next few weeks should be fun and something you looking forward to. Options are endless.
DAY OF YOUR SESSION
We are all excited, the day is finally here. Once the stressful part of making sure you have everything you need packed in the trunk of your car is over, and you arrive at the location, you can finally breathe:). This is the moment when all the hard work pays off, all the planning makes sense, and everything falls in place. AND, you, your senior and your photographer have fun.
Your job is not over though. The goal is for your senior to feel relaxed and beautiful/handsome, and you can sure help. Help the photographer by assisting with props, offer to hold reflector or a light, and make sure you give your senior plenty of compliments. Remember, unless they are a professional model, chances are they are extremely uncomfortable, and some maybe painfully shy. You know your child best! Help your photographer to make them feel extra special during their session. Give encouragement, compliments, and avoid pointing out any blemishes or fly away hairs. Rule of thumb: avoid talking about imperfections, focus on positives. Don't forget to have fun too.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SESSION
Your session is over, but your experience continues. Photographer goes home and in the next few days works on making your images perfect for you. Once they share them with you it is time for you to enjoy them, love them, and choose how would you like to showcase them. Is it an album, smaller one for grandparents, large prints, canvas, slick elegant metal print... it is time to print your beautiful photos so you and your family could enjoy them for generations. it is time to put those images on your walls and fully enjoy them every day. Give your senior a tangible representation of their senior year. THAT is priceless.
Note: Opt in for ordering prints and products from your photographer. They stand by the quality and will quality check every single print. If your photographer does not offer prints or products, ask them to give recommendations of professional labs you could use. After time and money you spend in making this session as perfect as possible, make sure your prints look as high quality as your family deserves.
I hope that after reading this, you feel more confident and ready to take this on. You are not alone. I am passionate about photography and would be thrilled if you chose me to capture your special moments. My sessions are limited so please get in touch quickly to get your session on the calendar. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
